What is Assessment?
4 steps of assessment:
- Identify what to assess
- Collect evidence
- Analyze evidence
- Make a decision and act on it, future goals
- There are several different ways to assess a child and it is important to find something that fits you, the grade level, and children.
- Usually, the teacher has the child read a small passage aloud and then asks for a small summary after the reading is over to determine their reading level.
**WISE WORDS: Reading assessment is important for several reasons but especially for the child's future. As the teacher, we need to assess in order to help each child grow and advance through the reading process.

Love your post! Especially the wise words! I think assessment is essential for both teachers and students. Students need to be assessed so they can correct what they're doing wrong. Teachers need to assess their students so they can correct their own instructional techniques in order to fit the needs of the students. I also believe both informal and formal assessment should be enforced year-round!
